Anyone in the interoperability market space knows Proficiency – the small Israeli company who took on feature interoperability, one of the toughest problems in the business. And they did a very commendable job at it. Their customers love their solutions. Trouble is, there weren’t enough of them, fast enough. The feature translation problem is notoriously challenging, and often unique to each company. For Proficiency, time was already getting short, and then the economy tubed. It’s great to see ITI TranscenData step up and keep this technology and people advancing this excellent toolset.
TranscenData is one of the great companies in the business. They are one of the oldest players in the interoperability software space, with very deep experience in many areas. They are among the most respected companies in the business – less flashy than others, and slower to grow, but that’s proven time and again to be the right combination in the fickle interoperability software market. They made it clear years ago that they would not play in the feature translation space. Rather, to meet customer requirements, they worked side by side with Proficiency in numerous customer situations. And Proficiency had their hands so full with features, they didn’t want to invest a lot of time and money in everyday interoperability features, like STEP or IGES translators, and quality validation tools like TranscenData’s renown CADIQ product. This acquisition is a natural fit. Two very smart, very talented companies - now one.
